Front Office Team
The first voice you will hear when you call our office and the first person to greet you when you visit us is a member of our Front Office Team. Our front office staff coordinates the appointment schedules for each of the doctors and dental hygienists. They also handle any insurance benefits you may have from verification to filing and follow-up. We are sure you will find them very helpful with any business questions, emergencies that may arise, and other concerns that you would like to discuss.
At your very first appointment with Dr. Montz or Dr. Ford, you will meet with one of our business office coordinators. In addition to introducing new patients into the practice, the front desk staff is involved in treatment planning with the doctors and in consulting with patients regarding their care. Treatment plans and financial arrangements are among the responsibilities they share. Our coordinators have many years experience in meeting patient needs. Their genuine caring and good communication skills make them an invaluable asset to our practice.

Carolyn Taylor
Carolyn Taylor is the Office Manager for River City Dentistry. She is originally from Michigan and graduated from The University of Michigan with a degree in dental hygiene. It was then that her dental career began and since that time has expanded into the business aspect of dentistry. Carolyn enjoys spending time with her family and has a married son with two grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys gardening and exploring the natural Florida State Parks. Florida is very much home to her and she cannot imagine being anywhere else! |

Karen Osteen
Karen Osteen is the hygiene and insurance coordinator for River City Dentistry. In 1989, she started her career in dentistry as a dental assistant and has been working with Dr. Montz for over fourteen years as chairside and front assistant positions. Karen grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, yet has lived in Florida for the last twenty-four years. She enjoys any kind of arts and crafts for her creative outlet. Even still, spending time with family (especially her grandchildren) is most important to her. |

Dental Hygienists & Assistants
Our practice has dental hygienists and dental assistants to help with the care of the patients. With their assistance, the procedures and appointments in the office run much more smoothly and on a timely basis.
The dental assistants are responsible for all of the clinical supplies that are necessary to take care of our patients. They are also accountable for the patient education necessary when patients are having specific procedures done. The ideal goal is to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you would like the benefit of some relaxation in our office, be sure to ask one of the dental assistants about our calming measures which include nitrous oxide (laughing gas), stereo headphones, CDs, or DVDs. Along with this, our dental assistants act as a hands-on assistant during clinical procedures.
We are extremely fortunate to have highly experienced dental hygienists. Each of the dental hygienists has over 15 years of experience as periodontal therapists. A regular visit with your hygienist is key to lifelong oral health. At each visit, they will closely monitor and maintain your periodontal health. Our hygienists are dedicated to continuing education, believing it is fundamental to offering our patients the latest techniques for home care and in-office treatment. Our hygiene department is especially known for gentleness and thoroughness!

Susan Gordon, RDH
Susan Gordon graduated from Valencia Community College in 1996 and holds her A.S. degree in dental hygiene. All of her hygiene years have been practiced in Florida and Susan has been part of River City Dentistry since the opening day. Even still, she has worked with Dr. Montz in DeBary for a number of years prior to joining this practice. Susan is married and has two small boys that keep her very busy. In her spare time, Susan enjoys traveling, boating, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. |

Karla Jermyn Teegarden, RDH
Karla J. Teegarden earned her A.S. degree in dental hygiene in 1989 from the Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and Northeastern University in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. She has been practicing as a hygienist for 20 years throughout Massachusetts, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Karla’s gentle, thorough touch and welcoming smile will put even the most anxious patient at ease. Her enthusiastic approach to dentistry and attention to detail make her a real asset to our practice. Karla devotes most of her time to raising her son and two large Rottweilers. When able, she takes to the open road on her Harley Davidson with her parents and close friends. |

Rose Stevens, DA
Rose Stevens is originally from Canton, Ohio, but spent the last 20 years in Virginia where she acquired her dental training from the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond. She has been in the dental field since 1986. Rose moved to Florida in 2005 and recently started working at River City Dentistry with Dr. Montz and the staff. She has extensive experience as a dental assistant and brings a wide range of skills to the workplace. Her professionalism and friendly manner help to make the office setting more relaxing and enjoyable for all. Rose is married and has a daughter. A few of her interests include spending time with her family, swimming, and going to movies. |

Kelley Ranken, DA
Kelley Ranken was born and raised in Illinois where she acquired her Dental Assisting certificate in 2004 from the Kishwaukee Community College in Malta. She recently moved to Central Florida and we are pleased that she is part of our Team. Kelley’s positive approach to life and endearing smile makes her a joy to have in our office. Her true passion is working with children. Some of her hobbies include going to concerts, cooking, hanging out at the beach, and spending time with her family. |
